Welcome to the memorial page for

Robert W. Cipcic

July 22, 1940 ~ September 22, 2017 (age 77)

Passed away peacefully at this home after struggling with several health issues, finally succumbing to lung cancer on Friday, September 22, 2017.  Bob promised his wife Mary Jane he would be around to celebrate their 48th wedding anniversary on September 20, 2017.  At 11:02 p.m. they drank a toast while listening to their latest new favorite song “Die a Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett playing softly in the background. Bob grew up in Battle Creek and worked at Albion Corning Glass a short time before enlisting in the U.S. Army which he proudly served three years in Germany.  After his return, he went to work for General Motors, Fisher Body plant in Kalamazoo retiring just shy of 31 years.  Bob’s love of family can never be questioned. From the time he was a small child to his final day, family was his priority.  His most treasured years were spending time in Yooper country with his father-in-law, Joe Svoke hunting, fishing and walking the trails in the woods.  Family traditions were important to him, combining the Cipcic’s and the Svoke’s into one. Those traditions will carry on.  Bob leaves behind the love of his life, Mary Jane (Svoke) Cipcic; daughters, Amy Marie (Richard) Mesecar of Burlington, MI, Jennifer Lynn (Chris) Matuschka of East Leroy, MI and a son Robert Scott (Christina) Cipcic of Battle Creek, MI; seven grandchildren, Devin, Justin and Jayson Mesecar, Brandon and Adam Matuschka, Madysen and Brayden Cipcic; one great granddaughter Violett Mesecar; a sister, Dorothy Vinski of Battle Creek, MI and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph J. and Anna K. Cipcic; granddaughter Emma Grace Cipcic; brothers, Steve and Richard Cipcic; sisters, Helen Bosrock, Caroline Wass, Barbara Partridge, Marian Hall and Tillie (Dunn) Dockery.  In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place.  Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the funeral home.
