Clarence Edward Henker

October 3, 1935 ~ August 29, 2018 (age 82)

           

Clarence Edward Henker, age 82 of Battle Creek, passed away on August 29, 2018 at Hope Healthcare Center in Westland, MI.  He was born on October 3, 1935 in Marshall, the son of Maurice and Eva (Grubb) Henker.  Clarence was a 1954 graduate of Marshall High School and served in the Air National Guard from June 11, 1957 til June 11, 1966.  He previously lived in Olivet, Michigan on Duck Lake from 1960 til 1972, then moved to Battle Creek.  He was previously employed for 30 years at the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek, from 1963 til 1993, then worked at Giffels & Rosetti Inc., Architects in Southfield, MI from 1993 til 1995, and finally at Abbott Laboratories in Waukegan, IL. From 1995 til 1999.  Clarence was a member and former Elder at the 20th Street Church of Christ and attended monthly dinner gatherings with the Kellogg retiree group.  He was an avid photographer, TV sports fanatic, baseball player, golfer, and enjoyed traveling and bird watching.  Clarence was united in marriage on May 3, 1958 at the Brooks Memorial Methodist Church in Marshall to Dixie E. (Lusk), she survives.  Also surviving are his sons; L. Scott (Mollie) Henker of Canton, A. Todd Henker of Romulus, brother-in-law; P. Randy Lusk, grandchildren; Justin and Tyler Henker, and Kylee Brooks.  He was preceded in death by his brothers; Walt and Charles Henker.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services.  Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Sept 1, 2018 at the funeral home, with entombment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (http://www.alz.org/donate) Condolences may be left for the family at http://www.henryfuneralhome.org
