Dorothy “Dot” Davenport, 96 of Bluefield, West Virginia passed away February 26, 2021 in Battle Creek, Michigan. Dorothy was born in Grandview, Idaho September 29, 1924 to William Christian Forcher and Francis Beatrice Cambell Forcher.  She lost her father when she was 2; and was raised with her brother, Owen Worth, and another child their family took in, through the Great Depression. Dorothy went to Walla Walla College Academy through high school and went on to earn her degree in nursing at what is now Loma Linda University.  She married Richard Ellis Davenport, a graduate of Loma Linda University Medical School.  Following Loma Linda they served a term of mission service in Nigeria where they set up clinics and Dorothy set up and taught at a nursing school.  They raised four boys, Robert, William, Gary, and James. Dorothy was an avid reader and wrote two books, “Who Found Klippy,” stories from their time in Nigeria and “His Guiding Hand.”  She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982 and her brother who died in 2003.  Following her husband's death she worked as a home health nurse and then, in retirement, taught science at the church school in Blue field.  Throughout her life she led out in “Breathe Free” stop smoking clinics, vegetarian cooking schools, health education and the "ABCs of Prayer." She devoted herself to family, the church, and Jesus Christ, the love of her life. Dorothy is survived by four sons, eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  A virtual service will be Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. (EST). Those wishing to attend virtually can check with any of Dorothy's sons for the link and passcode.  She will be interred beside her husband in Princeton, West Virginia.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Three Angels Broadcasting Network (3ABN).
