Joan Strong

February 13, 1938 — April 5, 2019

Joan Margaret “Jo” Strong, age 81 of Olivet, passed away Friday, April 5, 2019 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. She was born February 13, 1938 in Marshall, Michigan the daughter of Edison and Leola (Tooker) Coller. Jo attended both Lakeview schools and Battle Creek Central High School. For twenty-six years, she was the kitchen manager at Jacks Bar and Grill. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, American Legion Post #298 Auxiliary and the Eagles Lodge. Jo enjoyed bowling, mushroom hunting and the cabin at Mud Lake. On August 25, 1981 she was married to Jerry E. Strong in England and he preceded her in death on March 12, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Norris, Robert and Richard Coller and four sisters: Juanita Shear, Mary Wright, June Eisen and Marjorie Ward. Jo is survived by her son: Robert (Jeri) Greenfield of Spring, TX; granddaughter: Brittany Greenfield; two brothers: Keith (Doris) Coller of Bellevue and Bill (Sue) Coller of Battle Creek; many nieces and nephews, and her four cats: PJ, Storm, Peaches and Sadie. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Graveside Service will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. The family requests memorial contributions be given to The Veterans of Foreign Wars.
