Kellee Bammer

July 10, 1968 — September 9, 2021

Battle Creek

Kellee Elizabeth Bammer, age 53, of Battle Creek, passed away suddenly on September 9, 2021, at her home. She was born on July 10, 1968, at McChord AFB in Tacoma, Washington, a daughter to Thomas and Trudy (Davis) Daum. Kellee was the oldest of three children.

Kellee attended St. Philip Catholic Central High School (1983-1986) and was a gifted athlete. She was an integral member of the Guerra Dynasty, playing 4 years of varsity volleyball and assisting her team to MHSAA Volleyball State titles in 1983, 1984, and 1985. During her career, Kellee was two-time Michigan All-State (1985 and 1986), and three-time All-SMAA and All-City (1984-1986). She also played one year of varsity basketball before focusing her attention to volleyball. Kellee was invited to elite collegiate volleyball camps, played on select teams, and had recruitment interest from 21 Division I colleges throughout Michigan and the U.S. including Western Michigan, Florida State, Ohio State, and the U.S. Army and Naval Academies.

Kellee led a simple life, void of political clamor, and preferred staying at her home in Battle Creek. She was a kind person who went out of her way to help people and to care for her family and closest friends. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and looked forward to having family picnics at Bailey Park. She loved to visit her mother and enjoyed helping her in the flower and vegetable garden. Kellee was an animal lover especially caring for her dog Hennie, and cats-Buttercup, Anabel, Spec, Pudding, and Lazzie-as well as any stray cats that meandered to her door.  Kellee was employed at Friends Who Care and Tendercare Riverside where she would often take her children to model her compassion for the elderly residents.

She is survived by three sons; Mitchell, Zachery (Cheri Nicole) and David (Lacey) Bammer of Battle Creek, and 10 grandchildren; Carter, Aidan, Macie, Sadie, Amiah, Traceah, Alleena, Mackenzie, Sophia, and Dalton. Also surviving are her siblings; Kurtis Verner and Dr. Luke Thomas (Johna) Daum. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place.
