Mary Abbey

Mary E. Abbey, age 89, of Battle Creek, passed away on October 17, 2021, at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born on December 18, 1931 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Lyman and Marion (Lough) North.  Mary graduated from Flint Central High School and moved to Battle Creek from Flint in 1953.  She was a homemaker and worked at Kmart in customer service from 1964 until her retirement in 1985.  She was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church.  She enjoyed reading, crossword and jig saw puzzles, crocheting, animals, and spending time with her family.  She was exceptionally proud of all her grandchildren.  She was united in marriage to Joseph Abbey in 1955, he preceded her in death in 1993.  Also preceding her in death were her parents, son; David Abbey, sister; Rheata Wakeman, brothers; Richard and Thomas North.  Surviving are her daughters; Marian (John) Zuk and Theresa (Greg) Baker, both of Battle Creek, son; Robert (Linda) Abbey of Mountain Home, Idaho, ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Graveside service is scheduled for 12:00 p.m., Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Philip Catholic Church.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
