Mary L. (Gackley) Gertz, age 70 of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2019 at her home. She was born August 22, 1948 in Albion, Michigan the daughter of Merlin and Inez (Schutts) Gackley. She graduated from Washington Gardner High School in Albion in 1966. In June of 1968, she married Ronald P. Gertz and they moved to Battle Creek. Together they had one beautiful daughter, Amy. Mary worked for 16 years as office manager of Parsons Brake Service. In 1988 she went to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a city letter carrier. She retired from there in 2008 after 20+ years of service. Mary enjoyed taking care of her yard, quilting and visiting the great North Country of Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ron and her sister Sandra Bradstreet. She is survived by her daughter Amy (Steve) Salter of Clarkston, MI; two grandchildren: Max and Molly Salter also of Clarkston, MI; sister-in-law Janice (John) Shedd of Albion, MI; one niece and several nephews and their families. As per Mary’s request, cremation has taken place and no service will be held.
