Michael Allen

May 24, 1946 — January 23, 2021

Battle Creek

Mike passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. Michael was born on May 24, 1946, in Edmore, MI, the son of Robert W. and Neoma M. (Fredrickson) Allen. He graduated from Edmore High School in 1964 and then joined the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. Michael was a Postal Clerk for over 27 years retiring in 2006 from the Kalamazoo Post Office. On September 5, 1970, he was united in marriage to the former Pamela Chicos who survives. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Jerome’s Men’s Club and served as a Lector/Eucharistic Minister and an Usher at St. Joseph and St. Jerome Catholic Churches.

One would often find Mike with his nose in a book. He had a dry sense of humor and cracked jokes with people he cared about. Mike enjoyed golf and spinning tales with “the guys he got coffee with.”  Before Google or Apps, he could always tell you the weather forecast for your location.  Surviving is a daughter, Megan (Eric) McLearon of Manistee, MI and a sister, Patricia Allen of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Q. Allen in 2002 and his parents. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00a.m, Friday, July 9,  2021  at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, Ronald McDonald House or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by the Richard A.
