Stephen Denney

Stephen E. Denney, age 70, of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born March 25, 1950 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Lloyd W. and Isabell Helen (Ryder) Denney. Steve served in the U.S. Army from February 1968 until his honorable discharge in February of 1970. He received two Purple Hearts, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Air Medal during his tour of duty. He attended the Climax United Methodist Church, loved to travel, fish, and play golf. His favorite pastime however was to be with his family, whom he loved dearly. On April 7, 1978 Steve was married to Linda L. (Eversole) Denney, who survives. Also surviving are four children: Lyndon (Annette) Denney, Dena (William) Miller, Todd (Donna) Denney and Darcy Lynn (Jamie) Feather; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three brothers: Jack (Linda) Denney, David (Sue) Denney and Richard (Kim) Denney; two sisters: Mary Erskine and Karen (Michael) Dunn; many nieces and nephews and his mother in law: Glenice Eversole. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Lloyd Denney and sister Phyllis Fleming. A visitation will be held Monday, July 6, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Due to the Covid -19 pandemic the number of persons in the funeral home at one time is limited and the family asks that those attending please wear a mask. A private memorial service will be held at the Funeral Home with interment at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Wednesday, July 8, 2020. The family would like to give a special thank you to all the nurses at Bronson Methodist Hospital, especially Kari, Madison and Rachel.
