Ann K. Discher, Age 90, born on December 2, 1932, in Jackson, Michigan, peacefully passed away at her home on August 10, 2023. She was the daughter of Paul and Isabelle (Blackmore) Gibbs. Ann was a devoted teacher who dedicated her life to educating students in the Honor and Williamston Schools.
Ann earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Central Michigan University, which laid the foundation for her successful career as an educator. Throughout her tenure, she inspired countless young minds with her passion for learning and nurturing teaching style. She was united in marriage to Bill Discher on June 12, 1954, who survives.
In addition to her professional achievements, Ann was actively involved in her community. She proudly volunteered at Riverside School and served as an advisor at the Jr Legion of Mary. She selflessly taught as a volunteer in the C.C.D program at St. Joseph Church.
Beyond her career and volunteer work, Ann had a vibrant zest for life. She cherished music, particularly the sounds of the Battle Creek Brass Band that never failed to uplift her spirits. Playing the piano brought her great joy and solace. Her love for nature fostered a deep appreciation for all its wonders, while reading allowed her to explore new worlds from the comfort of her favorite armchair.
Ann's family held a special place in her heart. She is survived by her loving husband Bill Discher, their children Jody Lewis, Mary (Steven) VanderVeen, Therese (Dan) Bracken, Tom (Linda) Discher, Paula (Bill) Kapp, George Gibbs (her brother), and numerous grandchildren: Megan (Jake), Erin, Casey (CJ), Nathan, Jennifer (Zach), Danny (Bradyn), Joe (Hillery), Ally (Jordan) and great-grandchildren: Sophia, Quinn, Maddox, Peter, and Charlie. Preceded in death by her parents Paul and Isabelle Gibbs; Sister: Martha Gubry.

This will be followed by a funeral service starting at 12:00 PM at the same location. As per Ann’s wishes she asked for all donations to be made out to PBS-WKAR or Centrica Care Navigators.
Ann K. Discher will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to education, her peaceful and compassionate nature, and the impact she had on those fortunate enough to have known her. Her legacy will continue to inspire future generations of educators and learners alike. www.henryfuneralhome.org
