Arlene J. Cousins, age 86 of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away peacefully in her daughter’s home surrounded by family on April 20, 2025. Arlene is the daughter of Walter and Dorothy Crow. She graduated Mott College with a nursing degree and subsequently worked at Genesys Hospital concluding her career as a Medical Researcher.
Arlene was renowned for her resilience, quick wit, outgoing, and unwavering support for her family and friends. She supported her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews in any way she could.
Arlene had passion for attending concerts, dancing, visiting Casinos and day trips with her husband. She was an avid supporter of University of Michigan Football and Detroit Lions.
Arlene was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jim (January 2019) and her sister Sharon Sabourin (June 2022) and her parents Walter and Dorthy Crow. She leaves to her memory, her daughter Theresa Bastedo (Robin Tennant) and son Mark Bastedo (Tzitziki), Jane (Bill) Canterbury, Kathy (Jerry) Kennedy, Patty (Rob Moquin) Cousins, James (Cheryl) Cousins II, Stephen (Terry) Cousins, Douglas (Stephania) Cousins, JoEllen (James) Atkinson. She also leaves behind her brothers Gary (Debbie) Crow and Greg Sabourin along with 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 7 nieces and 6 nephews.
The family wishes to extend their eternal gratitude to Brett T. Brinker, M.D., M.S and the entire staff at The Cancer & Hematology Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a funeral is scheduled Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church, 112 Capital Avenue, N.E. Battle Creek, MI 49017 with a luncheon to immediately follow the mass at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home, 704 Capital Avenue, S.W. Battle Creek, MI.
