Bonna D. Tanner

Bonna D. Tanner, age 93, of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024, at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility in Battle Creek, Michigan. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments. Bonna was born on April 29, 1930, in Quincy, Michigan, to William and Margaret (Penfold) Barve they preceded her in death.  Throughout her life, Bonna had an impressive career that spanned multiple industries. She worked at Redmond Awards and United Steel & Wire before finding her passion as a press operator at U.S. Register. Bonna dedicated twenty years of her life to this profession and retired from U.S. Register with great pride.  In addition to her successful career, Bonna had a wide range of interests and hobbies that brought her immense joy. She found solace and creativity in crafts, often showcasing her artistic talents through various projects. Bonna's skills extended beyond crafts; she was affectionately known for her exceptional canning, cooking, and baking abilities. Her homemade delicacies were eagerly anticipated by family and friends who cherished the flavors she lovingly prepared.  Bonna had a green thumb and cultivated beautiful vegetable and flower gardens throughout her life. Her love for gardening not only brought her joy but also provided nourishment for those around her.  A music enthusiast with a penchant for country bands, Bonna frequently visited Country Fever—a local venue where she could indulge in the soul-stirring melodies of her favorite musicians while people-watching.  Among Bonna's proudest accomplishments was running a blueberry stand on Miller Road for many years. Her dedication to this venture allowed countless individuals to enjoy the sweet taste of summer as they relished in the abundance of fresh blueberries that she provided. Furthermore, Bonna cherished spending time at her family's property on Coldwater Lake for eighteen memorable years. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Garry Moore.   Bonna's memory will forever be treasured by her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her sons, Martin Moore, Jerry Moore, Joel Tanner, and her life partner, William Hill. Bonna also leaves behind a legacy of love through her fourteen grandchildren, as well as several great and great-great-grandchildren.
