Bonnie Elizabeth Dixon

Bonnie Elizabeth (Smith, Hess, Spindlow) Dixon , age 85, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Reflections Memory Care.  Bonnie was born in Shell Rock, Iowa on March 13, 1937, to Oran and Ethel Smith. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School, worked at Kellogg’s and Eaton, and retired from Parker-Hannifin, where she was a purchasing manager.  Bonnie married her third husband Norm Dixon on July 2, 1978, and was with him for 40 years until his death on August 21, 2018. They moved to The Villages, Florida, shortly after her retirement.  Bonnie was active in the Alhambra Community, and was a co-leader of Guys and Dolls. She was passionate about golfing!  Bonnie and Norm traveled throughout the country, and enjoyed cruising.  If you were counted as one of her many friends, she never forgot your birthday, and always sent you a card. When you saw Bonnie out and about, she was meticulously dressed, wearing earrings and lipstick!  She loved being a housewife and kept a meticulous home.

Bonnie is survived by her step-children Mark (Kathy) Dixon, Dianne (Fred) Smith, and Eric Dixon.  She had seven grandchildren: Bradley (Heather) Hess, Lucie (Nick) Silver, Erin (Chris) Kowalski, Aimee (Trevor) Mattis, and Ben, Bonnie, and Allysen Smith.  In addition she had five great-grandchildren: Colton and Cooper Hess, Theo and Rory Mattis, and Louis Silver.  She remained close to her daughters-in-law Rosie Smith and Vicky Dixon.  Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and step-father Robert Glasgow,  her husbands Gilbert Hess, Fred Spindlow, and Norm Dixon, her beloved son Richard (Carolyn) Hess, her step-son Daniel (Vicky) Dixon, and her twin brother Loran Smith.

There will be a Celebration of Life for family and friends at a later date.
