Charles Sullivan

March 30, 1928 — August 19, 2022

Battle Creek

Charles Elliott Sullivan, 94, passed away on August 19, 2022, in Houston, Texas, after a long struggle with dementia.  He was born in Battle Creek, MI, in 1928 to Joseph Freeman and Ethel Sullivan.  He was a resident of Battle Creek his whole life except for three years in Saratoga Springs, NY from 1966 to 1969.  He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1946 and was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1947 after serving at Fort Eustis, Virginia.  He attended the Parsons Business School in Battle Creek and was hired at Carton and Container in 1950.  Charles married Mildred Alice Sullivan in 1950 and remained married until her death in April 2017.  Charles and Mildred had three sons, Tom, Mark and Dan.  He worked at Carton and Container for 36 years, rising to Sales Manager, until his retirement in 1986.  Charles is survived by two sons, Mark Sullivan of Wausau, WI and Dan (Jo) Sullivan of Houston, TX; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his brother Joseph and two sisters, Mary Jane and Ruth. Charles was a founding member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, but he was not spiritual in his later years. Charles took his retirement seriously and kept an immaculate yard and watched the news and read the paper every day. A service will be held at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.
