Dale A. Welks, age 82, of Kalamazoo and formerly of Battle Creek, passed away on March 18, 2023 at Friendship Village Senior Living in Kalamazoo.  He was born on June 25, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio the son of John and Margaret (Veinfortner) Welks.  Dale graduated in 1956, from John Adams High School in Cleveland, Ohio, then went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.  He was previously president for ten years at EPI Printing, vice president at Win Schuler’s Restaurant for eight years, and Graphic Industries for five years prior to his retirement.  He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Battle Creek, and the Knights of Columbus in Florida.  Dale was an avid RC plane enthusiast.  He also enjoyed stained glass, woodworking, great pyrenees dogs, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; John Welks, first wife;  Donna and second wife; Margaret.  Surviving are his children; Doug (Mindy) Welks of West Lafayette, IN., Dawn (Eric) Sumners of Shelby Twp., MI., Jennifer (John) Arnsman of Kalamazoo, MI., grandchildren; Eleanor Arnsman, Clare and Jack Sumners.  Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the Friendship Village Senior Living Clubhouse, 1400 North Drake Rd., Kalamazoo.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Sky Foundation for Pancreatic Research, 33 Bloomfield Hills Parkway #275, Bloomfield Hills, MI  48304.  Memories and condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
