Donald Eugene Pierce, age 81, of Battle Creek, passed away on April 17, 2025 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born on December 27, 1943, in Climax, Michigan, the son of Ivan and June (Avery) Pierce. Don graduated from Climax-Scotts High School in 1962, then went on to attend Western Michigan University for two years. He was previously employed as a printing press operator for 34 years working at Michigan Carton before retiring. Don was a member of the Michigan Carton 25-year Club and the Local 705. He was baptized on September 17, 2023, as a member of the Cornerstone Community Church. His hobbies included Climax Scotts Athletics, NASCAR, Country music, going to the casino, and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers fan. Don was united in marriage on June 25, 1966, at the Church of God in Battle Creek to the love of his life, Ellen Pierce, she preceded him in death after 56 years of marriage. Also preceding him in death were his parents, sisters; Betty J. Horton and Barbara A. Mason, brother Stanley I. Pierce, nephews; Bill Birdsall, Ken Birdsall, David Birdsall, Randy Mason, and a brother-in-law, Douglas J. Smith. Don is survived by his sister in law, Carol A. Smith, brother-in-law, Harry and Sharon Pratley, nieces and nephews, Rose Mary Lovins, Rick and Lori Mason, Alinda and Chuck Arnett, Jody and Melissa Smith, Stacey Smith, Debbie and Roger Stephenson, Steve and Teresa Pierce, Cathy and Bob Shepard, Mark and Cheryl Pratley, Kerry and Jim Fisher, grand nieces, Helena and Olivia Smith, special cousins, Steve and Alice Cavinder, classmates, Bob and Donna Cook. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Funeral service scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the funeral home, Pastor Paul Parker of Cornerstone Community Church Officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
