Donna Hoedeman, age 93 of Battle Creek, a beacon of generosity and selflessness, received her wings on July 1, 2026. She was born in Litchfield, Michigan on July 23, 1932, the fourth in a family of five children and graduated from Litchfield High School. Donna furthered her education at Argubright School of Business and dedicated more than 37 years to the Kellogg Company.
Her life was a testament to the power of giving and doing for others. As the secretary to Bill LaMothe, one of Kellogg’s esteemed CEOs, Donna played a pivotal role in managing the 25-year fund. Even after retiring from Kellogg’s, she continued her dedication to the fund, and serving on various boards in the Battle Creek area.
Donna’s commitment extended beyond her professional endeavors. She spent several years working tirelessly with the pantry at First United Methodist Church, providing support and nourishment to those in need. Her dedication to community service was further exemplified by her service on the board of Big Brothers, Big Sisters, where she fostered meaningful relationships and guided young individuals.
In her spare time, Donna found joy in volunteering at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, offering her compassionate presence and support to patients and their families. Her final years were filled with cherished moments spent playing bridge in various groups, where she engaged in stimulating conversations and shared laughter with fellow bridge enthusiasts.
Donna’s love for family was evident in her close bond with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Hoedeman, and daughter, Julie Wood, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Donna’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew her. Bonnie (Brad) Morgan of Battle Creek and Mary (John) Coniaris of Bloomington, IN, are among those who will forever cherish her memory. Her four grandchildren, Larry Morgan (Amanda), Brandy Morgan, Lucas Coniaris, and Alex Coniaris, and her two great-grandchildren, Esmé and Calvin Morgan, will carry forward her spirit and continue to honor her life’s work.
A Celebration of Donna's Life will be held 12:00 to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at the Riverside Golf Club where a service by Pastor Larry French of the First United Methodist Church, Battle Creek will be held at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Franklin Food Pantry at The First United Methodist Church, Battle Creek.
