Doreen J. Hollister, 85 of Battle Creek, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011 at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. She was born July 2, 1926 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Clarence and Lovina (Smith) Gladwin. Doreen was a graduate of Lakeview High School and had worked at Consumers Power Company, Fenstemachers Fabric Shop and most recently at Jo-Ann Fabric from which she retired. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, quilting, knitting and reading. On August 14, 1944, Doreen was married to Ernest A. Hollister who preceded her in death on November 7, 1977. She was also preceded by her parents, one sister: Betty Gay and a son-in-law: Larry Stevens. Surviving are four children: Ronald (Janell) Hollister of Fort Worth, TX, Patricia Stevens of Battle Creek, Janet (Carl) McGhee of Battle Creek and Scott (Fariba) Hollister of Saline; seven grandchildren: Tony McGhee, Chris (Manda) Stevens, Amy (Steve) Anderson, David Hollister, Jason (Bonnie) Stevens, Sebastian and Maximilian Hollister; eleven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence or the American Cancer Society. We will always remember her as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and admire her strength and independence.
