Dorothy L. Vary

Died on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in Battle Creek. Dorothy was born on May 13, 1929, in Bluffton, IN, the daughter of Carl H. and Iona Mae (Murphy) Ifer. She has been an area resident since 1945 and was a 1947 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. She married  John A. Vary who preceded her in death in 1991. Dorothy worked for Baker Brothers Cleaners for 32 years until her retirement. She attended Battle Creek Bible Church and enjoyed reading and Sudoku. Surviving are her children, Bruce A. Vary, Lonnie L. Vary, Brenda K. (Mike) Chapman and Judith L. Vary; 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Norman R. Vary in 2017.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 7:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Battle Creek Bible Church. www.henryfuneralhome.org
