After returning from the war, he settled in Salina, Kansas where he met and married Reba Ann Just on October 18, 1946. She preceded him in death in 2009 after sixty-three years of marriage. He attended the Brown Mackie School of Business, and went on to work for the International Harvester Company. After working for a Pontiac dealer, he traveled as an auto parts salesman for Cowie Electric. Then, he accepted a position with Chevrolet Motor Division, General Motors Corporation.  After thirty-five years with General Motors, he retired and moved to Battle Creek to be closer to family. He was a member of the Battle Creek Bible Church and the American Legion.
