Frederick C. Larner, age 75, passed away on August 28, 2025, at The Oaks at Battle Creek. He was born on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1950, in Battle Creek, the eldest son of Lloyd and Gladys (Bonke) Larner. He graduated in 1968 from St. Philip Catholic Central High School and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in Computer Science in 1972. After graduating from MSU, he enlisted in the United States Airforce. He proudly served our country utilizing his computer skills, and was stationed in Italy and Columbia, Maryland. While living in Maryland, Fred participated in competitive couple’s dance roller skating. After discharge, he returned to Battle Creek, where he was a lifelong resident. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed reading, learning, talking about computers, watching television, spending time with his family and attending outings with The Oaks. He was preceded in death by his parents, youngest brother, Bernard “Bernie” J. Larner and many aunts and uncles. Surviving are his brothers; Michael T. (Loretta) Larner of Augusta, MI., Joseph (Susan) Larner of Burlington, MI., nephews; Michael C. (Sarah) Larner of Battle Creek, Matthew Larner of Nashville, MI., Andrew Larner of Battle Creek, nieces; Jeanette M. (David) Peevers of Chesterfield, MO., Rebecca A. (Edward) Thomas Jr. of Battle Creek, Carolyn M. (Richard) Compton III of Battle Creek, Uncle Thomas N. Larner of Chesaning, MI, many cousins, great nieces & nephews, great great nieces, along with his friends from St. Philip Class of 1968 and the staff and care givers at The Oaks at Battle Creek where he had resided for the last 10 years. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 7, 2025 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, where the Recitation of The Rosary will take place at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 8, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rev. Patrick Murphy, celebrant. Interment will follow the Mass at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Fred’s memory may be made to Battle Creek Area Catholic Schools.
