Genevieve Young

Genevieve A. Young, age 71, of Battle Creek, passed away on August 2, 2022, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.  She was born on September 10, 1950, in Los Angeles, CA., the daughter of Ramon and Gloria (McMillan) Marquez.  She graduated from William H. Burgess High School in 1969 in El Paso, Texas.  Genevieve previously lived in Arizona and Texas before making her home in Battle Creek, Michigan.  She worked as a secretary for Kendall Electric before retiring in 2016.  She enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, music and spending time with her family.  Genevieve was united in marriage on December 7, 1985, in Battle Creek to Alan Young, he survives.  Also surviving are her daughter; Alaine (Travis) Traxler of Battle Creek, sisters; Gloria Sandoval of Garland, TX., Elizabeth (James) Crump of Waco, TX., Roberta (David) Schedler of Plano, TX., brother; Ray (Michelle) Marquez of Waco, TX, grandchildren; Hayden Huge-Young, Adalyn and Emalyn Traxler, all of Battle Creek.  Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, and brother-in-law, Isaac Sandoval.  Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Rev.
