Hoyt McMillon, age 78, went home to The Lord on April 19, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Hoyt was born on December 25, 1944 in the back of his grandparents store on a mountain in Rhea County, Tennessee.
Hoyt enjoyed motorcycles, his river property, keeping in touch with his long distant family and his life long career in construction and excavation. Hoyt will always be remembered for his honesty, work ethic, and unfiltered sense of humor.
Hoyt is survived by his loving daughter Denise Lakner, his ex-wife but forever friend Judy Kaiser, 5 adoring grandchildren and a bonus grandson, 4 great grandchildren, his sister Sandra (Johnny) Letson, his brothers Lowell (Joann) , Clarence, and Gary (Dawn) McMillon, and many nieces and nephews. Hoyt is also survived by his stepchildren Rosann (Doug) Cook and Ryan (Esther) Leonard who will be forever grateful to Hoyt for taking them in as though they were his own and sharing his huge family with them.
Hoyt was preceded in death by his daughter Desaney (Alan) McMillon, his parents John and Nellie McMillon, his sister Carolyn Sue Cornelius, and infant sister Beatrice McMillon.
The family would like to thank Gary Seely for all his help caring for Hoyt in his last months, Hoyt’s many friends who visited and brought Hoyt meals, and also HomeCare Transitions, and hospice who helped us keep Hoyt in his home.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 24, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Funeral service scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25th at the funeral home, Rev. Rob Schwartz of Central Christian Church officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Hoyt and his much loved daughter Desaney.
