Hugh S. Morrison

Hugh Morrison, 89, of Battle Creek passed away on April 6, 2023 at the Bickford Cottage under the care of hospice.  To know Hugh was to like Hugh.  His kindness, good nature, and intelligence will be missed by so many people…his daughter Linda Morrison and son-in-law Mike Wales, his step children Ken (Jennifer) Pagel, Dr. Kelly Morgan, Rick Rivard (Ben Boerkoel), Dawn Gwillim, and his sister Gail Nangle.  Hugh enjoyed talking sports with many good friends, and great memories were made at Angelo’s, the Roma, the Lakeview Lounge, Marywood Country Club, and the Eagles.  Hugh was a devout University of Michigan fan.  He and his wife Mary made several trips to Hawaii to see the U of M play football/basketball.  He also loved the Tigers, Pistons, and was a great supporter of all the local high school teams.  Hugh was a 1951 graduate of Battle Creek Central and was an Albion College alumnus.  He spent three years in the U.S. Army, spending time in Korea as an interpreter.   He was a retiree of Kellogg’s and a member of the 25 Year Club.  Hugh was honored to be in the inaugural class of the Battle Creek Amateur Sports Association and Michigan Amateur Baseball Association Wall of Fame at Bailey Park.  Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Dr. Donald Morrison, a sister Ann Kokx, his first wife Ardis, and his second wife Mary.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Battle Creek Community Foundation – Fund for Battle Creek.
