In loving memory of Isaac Israel Alvarez, a father, brother, uncle, loving son, and friend.
August 8, 1972 - September 2, 2026
Our hearts are heavy and broken as we say goodbye to our beloved brother, Isaac Israel Alvarez, of Marshall, Michigan, who passed away peacefully at his home on September 2, 2026 at 1:45 AM at the age of 54, surrounded by his family who loved him more than words could ever express.
Isaac was born on August 8, 1972, to Saul Alvarez Sr. and Marcia Alvarez. He was the second child of eight siblings, and a treasured son, father, brother, uncle, and friend.
Isaac proudly served our country as a Veteran in Desert Storm and Desert Shield. But one of the greatest battles he could ever face came at just 33 years of age, when a devastating car accident left him paralyzed.
Doctors told our family that he might only survive another 10 years.
Isaac proved them wrong.
For 21 years he fought. He endured things that most people could never imagine, yet somehow, he continued to find reasons to keep going. He was resilient. He was strong. He fought with everything he had because he wasn’t ready to leave behind the people he loved and cared about most.
Isaac loved his family with his whole heart.
Whenever he could he wanted to be surrounded by the people he loved. He treasured the little moments-the time spent together, many conversations, the laughter, his many jokes, and simply having his family near him. Those moments meant everything to him, and they mean everything to us now.
He wasn’t just our brother. He was our brother who fought to stay.
He fought through pain. He fought through 21 years of that his doctors never thought he would have. And he fought because he loved us.
Isaac is survived by his significant other, Nancy Heal; his daughters, Alexis Amber Foster, Breanna Brook Alvarez; his grandchildren, Emma, Zoey, Varian, and Rynn Foster; his parents, Saul Sr. Alvarez and Marcia Alvarez; his siblings, Saul Alvarez Jr, Laman Alvarez, Aaron Alvarez, Raquel Alvarez-Hurtado, Rebekah Chester, Nathan Alvarez, Miranda Alvarez;, and all of his nieces and nephews, extended family, and countless friends who will carry their memories in their hearts.
There are no words big enough to describe what it feels like to lose someone who has been here for 54 years. We will miss his voice. We will miss his presence. We will miss knowing that he was just a phone call away. We will miss the moments we didn’t know would become memories.
Most of all we will miss him.
Isaac, you fought so hard to stay with us. And we hope you knew every single day, how very much you were loved. You gave us 21 years that we were told we wouldn’t have. We wish we could have had more time with you. But we will carry you with us-in our memories, in our stories, our laughter you gave us, and in the love you showed us. Your fight is now over brother. You can finally Rest in Peace. We love you Isaac and always will. Until we meet again dear brother, son, father, uncle, and friend.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 2, 2026 at the Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to the family c/o Marcia Alvarez, would be appreciated.
