Jackie "Jack" Carmicheal

 

Jackie (Jack) N. Carmicheal, Age 83, was received into heaven on December 9, 2023.  He was born in Swanwick, Illinois, to Mary Ruth and Roy Cecil Carmicheal on December 29th, 1939.

 

He is survived by his wife Mary. Between them they had 7 children. Tammy Garcia and her husband Jerry, Teresa Merchant, Jackie Carmicheal Jr, and his wife Debbie. Duane Schott and his wife Amy, Julie Schott, Randy Schott, and Cindy Swart. As well as 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.

 

He is preceded by 2 grandsons, Kenny (Dizzy) Carmicheal and Rodney (Hot Rod) Lee, and son-in-law Wes Swart.

 

He grew up in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He joined the Army at age 18 and served as Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne, until his injuries which disabled him in 1959.

 

In 1968 he began employment with the VA Medical Center, until he retired in 1994.

 

He was an Active Member of American Legion, Served as a Chapter 7 Commander for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) from 2003 - 2010, and the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars). He and his wife Mary are members of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Battle Creek.

 

Arrangements were made by Richard A. Henry Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Burial / Funeral Services will be held at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens on Saturday 12/16/23 at 11:00 am. With a Memorial Service at Millers Time Out following the service.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warriors or any Veterans organization of your choice.

 

The family wishes to extend gratitude to the Staff at the VA Medical Center, for the great care he received.
