James Dixon

James Dixon, a lifelong resident of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to his heavenly home on April 20, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on January 24, 1940, he dedicated his life to both his family and a distinguished career in the railroad industry.

Jim served as a brakeman conductor for the Grand Trunk Railroad/Canadian National for an impressive 42 years. His strong work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident throughout his career. Before entering the workforce, he earned a High School Diploma from Pennfield High School, graduating in the class of 1958.

Additionally, Jim was proud to serve his country in the United States Army for two years, reaching the rank of Private First Class and serving as a Military Policeman during the Vietnam War. His service was marked by dedication and honor, earning him two Marksman Medals and the Good Conduct Medal.

Outside of work, Jim was passionate about life. He loved fishing, golfing, reading books, being outdoors, and was also a gifted woodworker. These hobbies brought him great joy and provided wonderful moments for family gatherings.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Leah Dixon; his children, Tony Dixon, Lamara Hulsebos, and Jason Dixon; his grandchildren, Gavin Dixon, Alyvia Dixon, Drake Hulsebos, Skylar Hulsebos, and Rylen Dixon, as well as Alexia Dixon. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nelva Dixon, and his brother, John Dixon.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 12, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at Dexter Lake Church in Battle Creek where Jim was a proud member for most of his life. There will be a private internment for James at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. www.henryfuneralhome.org
