James “Skip” Warner, 82 of Battle Creek, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Laurels of Galesburg. He was born April 5, 1929 in Marengo, Michigan the son of Willard and Flossie (Morehouse) Warner. Skip was a 1947 graduate of Marshall High School and served in the U.S. Army. From 1947 to 1972 he worked at the Eaton Corporation and then worked for the U.A.W. as an International Representative from 1972 until his retirement in 1987. Skip was involved with the United Way and Battle Creek Unlimited, and was on the Board of Directors of the Eaton Federal Credit Union. He enjoyed stock car racing, fishing, hunting and camping. On July 28, 1951 he was married to Mary A. (Whedon) in Angola, Indiana and she preceded him in death on April 11, 2003. He was also preceded in death by two sisters: Helen and Marion and three brothers: Bill, Ron and Bob. Surviving are four sons: Ron (Pam) Warner of Galesburg, Kevin Warner of Lansing, Robert Warner of Paw Paw and James (Karen) Warner, Jr. of Alto; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother: Harry Warner of Marshall. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan.
