Janice Burk

Janice Marie Burk moved peacefully to her eternal home on Monday March 25th 2024 while residing in her son's household in Battle Creek, MI after a lengthy struggle with kidney failure. She was born with her twin brother Evert on March 31st 1941 to Emmet Charles and Viola Bell Smith in the family farm house in Bronson, MI and lived most of her adult life in West Allis, WI.

Janice married Jerry Dean Burk on October 2nd 1960 at Pleasant Hill Missionary Church in Bronson, MI. They had three children, John, Jeanette and Jewelette. Janice endured the untimely death of both of her daughters and the divorce from her husband, yet maintained a devote relationship with Jesus and a cheerful demeanor. Everyone who knew her, loved her and she will be missed by all of them.

Janice loved to be productive and was seldom idle. She kept herself busy working, volunteering at her church, caring for others, gardening, baking, maintaining her home, sewing and crafting.

Janice was an active member of Poplar Creek Assembly of God Church in New Berlin, WI. She enjoyed serving as church receptionist and a member of the missions committee.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents Emmet and Viola Smith, husband Jerry Burk, two brothers Marvin Jay Smith and Jerry David Smith and two daughters Jewelette Sue Burk and Jeanette Jean Burkee. She is survived by her son John and his wife Trudy, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Due to the locations of her residence, three memorial services are planned. One at Journey Church, 800 S. 24th Street in Battle Creek, MI at 11:00 on Saturday, April 6th, another at Poplar Creek Church, 17770 W. Cleveland Ave., New Berlin, WI at 11:00 Saturday, April 13th.
