Jerry Ray Gillaspie, of Athens, passed away on April 29, 2023.  He was born to Florence and Irl Gillaspie on April 22, 1942. Jerry graduated from Harper Creek in 1962 and was married to Patricia (Wood) Gillaspie later that year on November 21st. He was at Michigan Paperboard for 46 years.

He was a long-time resident of the Fulton/Athens area where he enjoyed many years on the family farm. He was a member of the Athens Lions Club, enjoyed Hunting, fishing, camping and going to car shows with his wife in their 54 Ford and square dancing. Jerry’s biggest passion besides his family was his horses. He spent numerous hours enjoying farming, working and pulling at local fairs with his teams.

Survived by his devoted wife Pat, sons Jerry Dean (Judy), Keith (Dawn), Bill and Daughter Julie (Tom). Grandchildren Jerry (Jill), April (Jon), Brian, Zachary, Caitlyn (Tristin), Cody (Emmalee), Carleigh (Brayden), Connor, Jacob, Zach, Dottie, Olivia (CJ), Mitchel and Whitney. Great Grandchildren Brooklyn, Elizabeth, Madison, Dallas, Avery, Camryn, Brinley, Azeleigh.

He was preceded in death by parents and sister Kay Traister

Memorial service scheduled for Saturday, May 13, 2023, at East Leroy Community Church.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org.
