Leonard George Hart, age 94 of Battle Creek, passed away Friday, July 4, 2025, at The Villa at Winston Court in Marshall. He was born on February 17, 1931 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Edward Thomas and Mildred E. (Stoudinger) Hart. A 1948 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, he went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1951 until his discharge as a Sergeant in 1953. He retired from the Kellogg Company where he worked for over 30 years. Fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, square dancing and western dancing were just some of his many interests throughout the years. On May 31, 1953, he was married to Frances Joan (Walkinshaw) who preceded him in death on March 29, 2012. He was also preceded by his parents and three siblings: Doris Owen, Lawrence and Wendell Hart. He is survived by three children: Teresa (Doug) Wilder of Eaton, Indiana, Christina “Tina” (Donald) Foster of Saratoga Springs, New York and Tom (Lisa) Hart of Beaufort, South Carolina; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; sister, Wilma Strickland and brother, William “Bill” (Marilyn) Hart both of Battle Creek; as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with a private interment at Fort Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. Thursday until the time of the service.
