Lois Jean (Washington) Harrison, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, at the age of 94. She was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on September 9, 1931. Lois attended Battle Creek Central and graduated in 1949.
In 1949, she met Walter “Dick” Harrison on a blind date. They were married in 1950 and celebrated 73 years of marriage together before his passing in 2024.
In the early years of her marriage, she worked in various clerical and accounting functions for the 10th Air Force, Percy Jones Army Hospital, Consumers Power Company and the AAA Automobile Club. After five (5) years of marriage, they decided to raise a family. She quit her job and had two (2) boys, Phil and Tim. Lois loved being a mother and became a devoted homemaker. These were her passions in life.
In 1964, the family moved to a horse farm in Barry County (her “heaven on earth” until her passing). Lois went back to work as an executive secretary at Barker Manufacturing and retired permanently in 1989 to spend more time with Dick, the horses and her growing family.
Lois's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her memory will be treasured by her family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by her warmth, kindness and sweet personality. She was very good at making friends with her beautiful smile.
In addition to losing Dick in 2024 and her son Tim in 1977, Lois was preceded in death by her father Thomas R. Washington, her mother Clara E. Miller and her sister Betty (Marlee) Zulch. Surviving are her son Phil (Janet) Harrison, grandchildren Arin (Roberto) Giannandrea, Gabe (Dorothy) Harrison and Jessica (Justin) Dixon. Also surviving are her brother Carlos Washington, six (6) great grandchildren, three (3) great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, Sunday June 14, 2026, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 703 Capital Ave., S.W., Battle Creek, Michigan. Funeral Services to celebrate Lois’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 15 at the Hickory Corners Bible Church, 13720 Kellogg School Rd., Hickory Corners, MI 49060.
