Marilyn Elaine Kohl, (93) passed away on March 6 th , 2021 after a brief stay in hospice care.

She was born in Oak Park, IL to Frederick and Ester Bruns and graduated from Oak Park High School, Class of 1946. She went on to marry Gerald (Jerry) Raymond Kohl and was a home maker and support to Jerry and their three children.

She was an avid fan of the NFL team, Chicago Bears, beginning with her father as a teenager and attending games in Chicago throughout her life.  She loved dogs and was particularly fond of the family’s German Shepherd, Labrador and Golden Retrievers.

Prior to her residence in Battle Creek, MI, Marilyn and Jerry had homes in Oak Park, IL - Joplin, MO, Elmhurst, IL - Montague, MI – Lombard, IL and Summerfield, FL.  She enjoyed homemaking, boating, and traveling with Jerry in their RV.

Marilyn is survived by her son Steven, his wife, Deanna and grandchildren, Robert, Allison and Audrey.  Her son Richard, wife Susan and grandchildren Matthew and Anna and two great grandchildren.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her brother Warren Bruns and their daughter Cynthia.

A memorial service for immediate family will be held in West Bloomfield with burial this summer near the shores of Lake Michigan.  Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan, 2500 Watkins Road, Battle Creek, MI  49015.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the compassionate care for Marilyn from the staff at AC Flower House, Nashville, MI and Grace Hospice.
