Martin C. Brooker

Martin "Marty" Craig Brooker, age 73 of Battle Creek passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 11th, 2026. He was born in Battle Creek on October 3, 1952, the son of Alvin and Wanda Brooker. He was the youngest of three children. Martin was cherished by his parents, Alvin and Wanda and his brothers, Calvin and Theron.

Martin married the "Love of His Life", Lauretta (Caraway) Brooker on May 23,1975 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Battle Creek, MI. They were married for 51 years. In that time, they raised a daughter, Lydia Marie Mason. Lydia gave them two wonderful grandsons, Juan Suarez Jr. and Martin Scott Suarez with their dad, John Suarez. John became the son they never had.

Martin was a Master Mechanic at Erich Henkel Lincoln Mercury for at least 30 years. He then worked at Seelye Wright Kia for 6 years until he retired. He was well liked and appreciated by the people he worked with.

Martin leaves behind the people he loved the most, his loving wife, Lauretta; daughter, Lydia Marie (Craig) Mason; son, John (Rebeca)Suarez Sr.; brother, Theron "T" (Diane) Brooker; grandson, Martin (Tiffany) Suarez; great-grandchildren, Juan Suarez III, AnaLeiah Suarez, Kylie Tanner, Chase (Genesis) Tanner, Alex Bravo, Rookman Singh and Rosalee Tanner; nieces, Leslie Brooker and Bonnie Nolan Brooker; and nephews, Danny and Dylan Brooker. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Calvin Brooker; and a much loved grandson, Juan Suarez Jr.

The family will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 16, 2026 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services where services to Celebrate Marty's Life will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 17, 2026. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan or the Leukemia Clinical Research Foundation.
