Michael O'Hara, age 70, a lifelong resident of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on October 17, 2023, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Born on November 29, 1952, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Edward and Elizabeth (Martin) O’Hara. Michael lived a very special life filled with love, passion, and countless memories.
Michael's educational journey began at St. Joseph Catholic School, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. He continued his studies at Lakeview High School, seizing every opportunity to expand his knowledge and explore new areas of interest.
Outside of his academic pursuits, Michael attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. His faith held a special place in his heart and guided him throughout his life. He found solace and strength within the walls of the church and spent countless hours studying the Bible. One of Michael's greatest joys was indulging in various hobbies that ignited his curiosity and brought him immense pleasure. A passionate collector of coins, he meticulously curated a vast assortment that beautifully reflected his appreciation for history and culture. In addition to numismatics, Michael found great excitement in exploring the world of stocks and finance—a true testament to his astute mind for investments. The thrill of visiting the casino added an element of excitement to Michael's life—one he enjoyed sharing with family members as he sought Lady Luck's favor.
Beyond his hobbies and interests lay a deep devotion to learning about historical events that shaped our world. Michael had an insatiable thirst for knowledge about past civilizations' triumphs and tribulations—an inclination that showcased his remarkable intellect. Mike was an avid chess player, thoroughly enjoyed playing hours of chess with his friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gina O'Hara. He is survived by his loving sisters; Kathleen (David) Vaughn and Mary (Jimmie) Good—a testament to the close-knit bond shared within the Martin/O'Hara family and their strong Italian and Irish Traditions. His nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews will forever cherish the memories they shared with their uncle.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Richard A Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services located at 703 Capital Ave SW, Battle Creek, Michigan.
A funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 PM. It will be a time to reflect on Michael's legacy and celebrate the beautiful life he lived.
Michael E. O'Hara's departure leaves a void in our hearts, but his memory will forever be engraved in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
