Penny Jean Ellis

Penny J. Ellis, age 84, of Battle Creek, passed away on January 13, 2026. She was born on June 11, 1941, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Max and Betty (Pallett) Teller. Penny was a lifelong resident and graduated from Pennfield High School. Penny was a homemaker, helping to raise her children and provide for her family. She was united in marriage on January 27, 1961, to Roger G. Ellis, they celebrated 48 years of marriage. Penny enjoyed fishing and playing Bingo. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren; they were her life. Penny was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Roger S. Ellis, and a brother, Clair H. Coy Jr. She is survived her children; Scott M. (Lisa) Ellis, Troy D. (Deb) Ellis, Christy L. (Ellis) Purdum all of Battle Creek, brother, Danny L. (Doris) Teller of Hawaii, Beverlyn of Battle Creek, grandchildren; Levi G. Ellis, Skye T. Ellis, Steven J. Ellis, Jacob A. Acree, Paige M. Southern, Ryan L. Purdum, Hunter Waterston, and a great granddaughter, Jade Ellis. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
