Richard T. Stanton

Richard “Dick” T. Stanton, 86, passed away April 3, 2023, following a 20 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Dick was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, graduated from Lakeview High School and attended Ferris State University. He worked hard to provide for his family, being employed as a mechanic for Sunoco, driving car-carriers for Kimball Ford, distribution center/mail room manager at the Battle Creek Enquirer and finally retiring from Kellogg’s. Dick loved many things in life, but nothing gave him more happiness than his family, his Boston Terriers, Tiger Baseball and reading voraciously. He also enjoyed an active lifestyle, playing on local baseball teams, bowling, gardening and running, which he started in his 40’s and led to numerous marathons, including the Boston three times. Dick continued running, although not as far, until he turned 80. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Alison Stanton, son, Michael (Nancy) Stanton of Columbus, Ohio, daughter, Lynne (John) Sackrider of Battle Creek, grandchildren, Meredith and Nicholas Stanton and Marie, Elyse and Jenna Sackrider, as well as two great-grandsons. We would like to thank the staff of Legacy at the Oaks of NorthPointe Woods and Centrica Care Hospice for taking such good care of him. Per Dick’s wishes, cremation and arrangements have taken place through the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home, with a private interment and Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. Donations may be made to Dick’s memory to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan (HSSCM), 2500 Watkins Road, Battle Creek, MI 49015. www.henryfuneralhome.org
