Robert Allen Pyatte passed away in his home on August 1st with his family close by. He was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on August 5, 1947.
He was the beloved brother of Julianne Ventura, Suzanne Pyatte, Jane Pyatte and Barbara Pyatte.
While attending Western Michigan University, Bob served in the United States Army Reserve during the Vietnam War. He had two children, Jayne and Stephen, with his first wife Judy Ann Warren Pyatte who preceded him in death.
He was employed by the Kellogg Company for over 45 years and served in many capacities in Battle Creek, Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Sydney, Australia.
His work skills carried into his personal life. He seemed able to do most anything he put his mind to and was an extraordinary handyman. Those who loved him knew him to be truly the life of any party. He was endlessly funny and fun-loving. He delighted his grandchildren with silly faces. They adored him and have many wonderful memories of him.
He was married to Laurie on August 7th, 2004. He and Laurie enjoyed traveling and had an adventurous life pursuing their many interests. It began with birdwatching but eventually encompassed many other things. They spent much of their retirement years in their RV exploring the country and returning often to favorite places in California and Oregon. Church was an important part of their lives and they attended a Christian church wherever they were. They missed the close involvement they had with their home church, but they developed friendships at churches they frequented in their travels and found it to be an enriching and valued experience. In Battle Creek they attended Woodland Church where Laurie was a member.
They moved to Hawaii in 2013 and bought a home on the Big Island where they spent winters and continued to enjoy an active lifestyle.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie Pyatte, his daughter, Jayne Gendreau (Steven), his son, Stephen Pyatte (Courtney), his grandchildren Jayne Gornish (Brad), Jacquelyn Gendreau, Adelyn Pyatte, Jacob Pyatte and his great-grandson Noah Gornish; his stepchildren Jason Heindel (Andrea), Megan Hancock (Jack), Erin Lee (Donnie) and his step-grandchildren, Jakob Heindel, Misha Heindel and Gage Hancock. All of them will remember him with love and miss having him in their lives.
