Robert L. Watts

Robert L. Watts, age 86, of Battle Creek passed away on August 20, 2025 at Bickford of Battle Creek. He was born on July 22, 1939 in Richmond, North Carolina, the son of Robert and Ola (Steele) Watts. Robert grew up in North Carolina working on farms with his family until the chickens ran him off to join the Army. Robert served his country with the United States Army for 10 years, then lived in Muskegon, MI where he finished his high school education and met his wife, Rose (Bryant) Watts. After taking a job at the Air National Guard, he moved his family to Battle Creek and worked at the base for 18 years before retiring and taking a job at Meijers. On July 18, 1994 he and Rose married. He was a member of the American Legion Post 298. Robert enjoyed reading, outdoor activities which included camping and spending time with his family. Robert was an avid lover of homemade pies and cookies. Robert is survived by his wife Rose, his children; Brian and Amie Bryant, Sandy and Kyle Hill all of Battle Creek, Kathy Mackety of Fulton, MI, Sherri Watts and Darin Watts both of Muskegon, MI, sisters; Phyllis and Warren Green of Arizona, Barbara and Richard Adkins of North Carolina, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, a son Kenneth Watts, two brothers Richard & Calvin Lee (CL) Watts and a grandson Dennis Momenee. Graveside service with military honors is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (Please arrive by 1:45), Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
