Roberta "Bobbie" J. Thompson

Roberta “Bobbie” Thompson, age 78, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on February 18, 2024, at Centrica Rose Arbor Place. She was born to Reba and Robert Thompson on February 2,1946, in Dayton, Ohio and was a lifelong resident of Battle Creek. She graduated from Lakeview High School in 1964 and earned her Bachelor of Science from Western Michigan University in 1968. Bobbie worked for Kellogg’s for 27 years. In her younger days she enjoyed playing softball, bowling and golfing.  She loved her friends and family especially the Betts kids: Hannah (Cody)Wainer, Aaron (Erin)and Lydia. Bobbie enjoyed watching others have fun in her pool especially the ‘grandkids': Jay, Sarah, Rachel, Eli, Atlas and Charlotte and special friend Luke. She loved how so many learned to swim in her pool. She enjoyed caring for her gardens, reading and helping others. Bobbie volunteered for over 30 years with the Battle Creek Hot Air Balloon Championships and Air Show. In recent years she was affectionately known as one of the Golden Girls with Cathy and Janet. She also volunteered at Calvary Baptist Church with Operation Christmas Child for over 20 years. Her meticulous attention to detail assured that hundreds of thousands of shoe box gifts were properly accounted for, which ensured they were delivered to thousands of children worldwide. She will be missed by many. It was Bobbie’s wish that in lieu of flowers memorial gifts be given to Operation Christmas Child at Calvary Baptist Church of Battle Creek. A service to celebrate her life will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
