Ronald Eugene “Ron” Carter Sr. 08/22/1953 – 09/03/2026

Ronald Eugene “Ron” Carter, age 73, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on September 3, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply.

Ron was born in Battle Creek on August 22, 1953 and lived a life centered around family, friendship, hard work, and taking care of the people around him. He was the kind of man who found happiness in the simple things and took great pride in the life he built.

Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972, followed by an additional 19 years in the Army Reserve. His years of service reflected much of who he was throughout his life—loyal, hardworking, dependable, and committed to the people and things that mattered to him.

In 1981, Ron married the “Love of His Life”, Maria L. Carter. Together, they settled into their country home in Pennfield, where they raised their family and spent more than four decades building a life filled with love, laughter, and memories.

Ron was happiest at home. He enjoyed working around his property, spending time tinkering in his barn, fishing, golfing, camping, and simply being outdoors. He took pride in a hard day’s work and appreciated those quiet moments when the work was finished and he could sit back and enjoy the home and life he had built with his family.

But nothing meant more to Ron than the people he loved. Being a husband and father meant the world to him, and becoming “Grandpa” brought an entirely new kind of happiness into his life. His grandchildren were a tremendous source of pride, and being there for them was something he truly cherished.

Those fortunate enough to know Ron will remember his heart of gold, his sense of humor, his loyalty, and his willingness to help anyone who needed it. He was a great friend, a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather, and someone his family always knew they could count on.

To so many people whose lives he touched, Ron was simply “one of the good ones.” His family will miss his presence more than words can express, but the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the example he set will remain with them always.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Maria L. Carter; his children, Tiffany & Dan Rombaugh, Billy Carter & Kailey Hein, and Ron Carter Jr; his grandchildren, Harper, Tanner, Bexley, Cove, Holland, and Piper; his siblings, Debbie Marion, Elizabeth Courtright, Jeff Courtright; his best friend, Nick Cady along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patience Roberts; his father, Harold Carter Sr; and his brothers, Harold Carter Jr. and William Courtright.

The family will receive friends 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 17th @ Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services where services to Celebrate Ron's Life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment with full military honors will follow at the Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta.
