Rose Walentowski

Rose Walentowski, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and valued member of the community, passed away on February 6, 2024, in Battle Creek. She was born on July 17, 1956, in St. Albans, West Virginia.

Rose was a dedicated housewife and took great pride in taking care of her children and managing the household. Her commitment to her family was unparalleled, and she always went above and beyond to create a loving and nurturing environment for them.

In addition to her role as a devoted wife and mother, Rose had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought her joy throughout her life. She particularly enjoyed sewing, making jewelry, photography, participating in church groups, and working with various crafts. These activities allowed her to express her creativity and share her talents with those around her.

Rose had a strong faith and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. She found solace in attending church services and actively participating in church activities. Her involvement with the church community provided her with a sense of purpose and fulfillment. When Wayne and Rose moved to Battle Creek in 2007, she quicky became involved at Woman’s Co-op, where she volunteered much of her time sorting donations, working in the sewing room, and being a friend and support to many members.  Rose was also very active at Trinity Lutheran Church.  She helped with the food distribution, ran the Christmas tea, volunteered at Family Camp, was the “official photographer” of all church functions, and was head of the altar guild.  When she wasn’t busy at church or Co-op, she was very artistic, loving to sew, make jewelry, take photos, and do numerous other crafts.

Rose's warm heart touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her compassionate nature extended beyond her immediate family to include friends who became an integral part of her life. Rose cherished these relationships deeply and always made time to connect with loved ones.

She is survived by her loving husband Wayne Walentowski, who stood by her side through thick and thin. Together they built a lifetime of memories filled with love and devotion. Rose is also survived by their four children: Robert Deweese, Dean Walentowski, Frank Walentowski, Vicky Walentowski; their three grandchildren: Brandon Walentowski, Miya Walentowski, Juliet Corron; as well as their two great-grandchildren: Aaliyah McCord and Ezra Walentowski.

Rose is preceded in death by her father, Robert Erwin, her mother, Ruby Erwin(Lovejoy), and her granddaughter, Oliva Walentowski.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Rose Walentowski will be held on February 15, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church located at 2055 E Columbia Ave, Battle Creek, MI 49014. The service will commence at 1:00 PM and provide an opportunity for family and friends to gather and pay their respects.

Rose's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but her memory will continue to inspire and guide us. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Rose's honor to Trinity Lutheran Church.
