Sharlie E. Jones, aged 78, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026. Born on January 21, 1948, in Battle Creek to Merle and Laura (Breese) Jones, Sharlie was a proud graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, class of 1966. She furthered her education at Michigan State University, obtaining her elementary teaching certificate in 1970, followed by a master’s degree in education. A member of the First Presbyterian Church, Sharlie dedicated her professional career to education, spending 35 years with Battle Creek Public Schools. Throughout her tenure, she taught at Roosevelt Elementary and served as an adult education teacher at Miller Stone. She concluded her career in 2016 as the Director of Adult Education, where she was instrumental in numerous initiatives to enhance adult education awareness within the community. An avid reader known for her quick wit, Sharlie had a profound passion for helping others and cherished her family and friends. Her passing leaves a significant void in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her, as she touched many with her kindness and support. Sharlie is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Carl Jones. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Memorial Park Cemetery on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Sharlie’s name.
