Sherry Lou Easterday Holt, 90, of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away on September 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family reaching her hand out to God to bring her home. She was amazed that she lived such a long life. Sherry was born on September 26, 1935, in Marshall to Denzel and Marjorie Easterday. She attended Marshall High School, graduating in 1954. She was popular in school excelling as a cheerleader and chorus line girl. She also modeled hair for Joe Ferrari.
Sherry’s first job was as a “soda jerk” at a drugstore in Marshall and ended at the Secretary of State in Battle Creek. But her most rewarding career was the 30 years she volunteered at Bronson Cancer Center caring for her patients.
Sherry married Lloyd Austin which ended in divorce but not before producing her two loving daughters Kim Renee and Periann. She later married Lavern John Holt that lasted nearly 49 years. They enjoyed boating, trips to Vegas, restoring a 100-year-old farmhouse and fostering many cats, geese and critters around their property.
Sherry is survived by her husband, John, daughters Kim Austin Demo and Periann (Mike) Cantrell, step-daughter Lisa Holt and step-son Jeff Holt. Grandchildren Cylie (Kainin), Melody (Coleman), Corey, Caitlin (Aaron) Taylor (Hailee), Austin, Kyle, Chandler, Kennedy (Dylan), Karder, Kohen, Kingsley, Karson, SylvieAnn, Timothy, NoraKate, Greyson and Eloise. Sister Gay and in-laws Dixie and Jerry, nephews Brian (Linda), Scott (Patricia), nieces Mollie (Scott), Sarah (Randy), Tina (Paul), Denise (Chris), Robin (Steve), Heidi (Kevin), PJ (Rich) and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Larry, sister Chloris, nephew Shawn and great nephew Joshua.
A private celebration of life will be held on September 26, 2026, which would have been Sherry’s 91st birthday. She will be deeply missed. www.henryfuneralhome.org
