It is with great sorrow, the family announces that Sherry L. (Shelton) Heagney suddenly passed away at home on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from natural causes. She was born in Battle Creek on January 28, 1949 to Beverly J. and Walter D. Shelton. A lifelong resident of Battle Creek, Sherry graduated from Springfield High School in 1967. She loved being a stay-at-home Mother to her three children until she started her career as a Medical Office Manager that lasted over 30 years.
Sherry will always be remembered as a loving and thoughtful mother, grandmother, sibling and friend, remembering everyone’s birthday and special occasions with greeting cards, Facebook comments and small gifts. Her famous Chex Mix, that she made year-round, was a big favorite to everyone receiving a baggie full. Her home was always welcoming with decorations and fresh flowers for every holiday that started with beautiful displays on the front porch, not to mention a dish full of small candy bars that was always available to guests. Sherry would often enjoy a tranquil morning out on her cozy and colorful patio as she drank her tea. She loved to read, bake, and decorate in her free time. Sherry deeply loved her grandsons and often hosted family meals so she could spend time with them, which included her “grand” pets that would receive special Grandma treats from her.
Sherry was cherished and loved by family and friends across the entire country, who are now blessed with beautiful memories of this incredibly thoughtful woman. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, stepmother, Betty Shelton, and step-brother, John Archer.
