Shirley Faye Flowers, age 86 of Battle Creek, passed away on January 9, 2026 after a long illness, with her daughter Jette at her side. Shirley was born August 9, 1939, in Livingston, Tennessee, the daughter of Crawford and Lena Dishman. The family moved to Battle Creek where she lived with her large family of nine siblings. In 1962 Shirley and her first husband Orlo Bugel moved to Miami, Florida. They were married for seven years and had one daughter. She then married her second husband of 52 years Charles Flowers, and they built a beautiful home in the Bahamas. She and Charles were both pilots and enjoyed flying back and forth to the islands. For many years, they owned and operated Flowers Air Charter and Flight School. Shirley loved living in Miami and made a lot of wonderful friends. She was an advocate for homeless animals in Miami, taking in over 100 dogs, getting them medical help if needed and finding them their forever loving home. This was truly her passion. Shirley is survived by her daughter Jette (Andy) Worm; three sisters: her identical twin Phyllis (James) Ross, Barb (Richard) Watson and Judy (Mike) Heldt; two brothers: Lloyd Dishman and Kenneth Dishman, and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her devoted husband and Air Force veteran Charles Flowers, her parents, and four sisters: Dennie, Bertie, Sandy and Cheryl. She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her. A graveside service will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by the Richard A.
