Stephen Thomas Diverio

Stephen T. Diverio, age 66, of Battle Creek, Michigan and formerly of Maywood, New Jersey and Portland, Oregon passed away on February 28, 2023 in the arms of his loving family.

Stephen was born on January 16, 1957, the third of six children, to Ralph and Eileen Diverio.

Steve graduated from St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he excelled in football, baseball, and golf. He continued his education at Niagara University where he advanced his football career, achieving 1st Team All-American NCFA honors. Upon receiving his degree in Logistics & Supply Chain, Steve worked for several years with Freightliner in Oregon and Lipton Tea in New Jersey before relocating to Battle Creek to begin a rewarding 30-year career with Kellogg’s, advancing to the position of Director of Supply Chain Network Planning.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Rosemary, and children Michelle Elizabeth Schoenbauer (Christopher) of Leonardtown, Maryland and Brian William of Battle Creek; and his beautiful granddaughters Bryn and Felicity.

Also surviving Stephen are siblings Mark (Hackensack, NJ), Paul (Ringwood, NJ), Anne Marquis (Raymond) (Cape Cod, MA), Phil (Howell, NJ) and Susan (Martha’s Vineyard, MA), as well as many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Stephen was preceded in death by his father.

A devoted and loving husband and father, Steve enjoyed quiet time at home with his wife, rounds of golf and Notre Dame football games with friends and loved ones, and playing on the beach in South Haven with his beloved granddaughters. In retirement, Steve enjoyed traveling, listening to his collection of vinyl records, and visiting all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums. Highly skilled in home improvement projects, he took great pride in caring for his home and yard. Steve loved being outdoors and appreciated the varied beauty of Michigan’s four seasons. He truly enjoyed the journey of life and was always looking for opportunities to bring happiness into the lives of others.

Steve was a hard worker who gave his all to everything he took part in. He treated everyone with respect and lived his life in accordance with the values instilled in him through his Catholic faith. Steve was a wonderful person and will be dearly missed by all those who love him.
