Tamara Lynn Tharp, 76, born on March 17, 1949, in Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many throughout her time with us.
Tamara dedicated much of her career to public service, working at the Secretary of State's office in Battle Creek, where she fostered connections with her community. For six years, she proudly served in the women’s auxiliary division of the Battle Creek Fire Department, exemplifying her commitment to helping others. Her passions extended into her personal life where she enjoyed reading books, sewing, going to the movies, and traveling, especially out west with multiple trips to Las Vegas and Yellowstone National Park and spending precious moments with her family.
On August 13, 1967, she married her loving husband, Randolph Tharp, and together they built a family filled with love and togetherness. Tamara leaves behind her husband, Randolph; her son, Brian (Sharon) Tharp of Greeneville Tennessee; her daughter, Vicci Tharp of Coldwater Michigan; her sister, Tonja Martin of Battle Creek; her brother, Dale Martin of Battle Creek; and her two cherished grandchildren William & Chelsie and two great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Chauncy and Vera (Ayres) Martin, whose legacy of love and guidance shaped the wonderful person she became.
A graveside service will be held on Friday July 18, 2025, at Fort Custer National Cemetery at 2:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and celebrate her life. Tamara Tharp will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Donations may be made to the St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital and the Humane Society.
