Terry came to Battle Creek at the age of four. When he was 11 his mother married Donald LeClear and he loved his step-father dearly. Terry graduated from Springfield High School in 1966 and worked at Post Cereals until entering the Army on October 20, 1966. He served honorably until June 28, 1969. Terry was wounded in action on his second tour in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart. Upon returning home he returned to Post where he worked in the Powerhouse and unloaded the last coal car. He then worked in General Maintenance until his retirement in 2003. He served as Sexton for Newton Township Cemetery from 1980-1988. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his two very special friends Robert Vanderveen and Stanley Robinson.
He married Mary Ellen Stokes on August 27, 1971, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter Tara (Caleb) Britten of Athens, son Bradley of Royal Oak, MI, grandchildren Austin (Leia) Monk, Mariah Britten, and great-granddaughter Selah Monk. Sister Lori (LeClear) Norman (Tom Gilmore) and brother Scott (Sue) LeClear, many nieces, nephews and friends who were all held dearly in his heart. Last but not least his cat Lucky.
Terry loved woodworking of all kinds and maintaining the yard. Most of all, he loved playing with his grandkids after retirement. He tried to never miss a game or school program. He enjoyed going to Austin's football practices and would bring all the players apples to have afterward.
