Thomas Roy Hood

Thomas Roy Hood was born September 7, 1957 the son of Eilene Viola (Gilbert) Hood and Harley Hood Sr. Thomas passed away at home January 26, 2026 due to a long battle with failing health. Thomas grew up in Charlotte, MI, enlisted in the US Marine Corps on May 29, 1976 and was honorably discharged June 7, 1979. He then held various factory and maintenance jobs in Battle Creek.

On June 30, 1990, he married Marie H. Waffle in East Leroy, Michigan. Thomas decided to go to truck driving school and became an over the road truck driver and Marie would go on many of his runs with him and they were able to see most of the United States. After about 10 years of driving truck, Thom had to retire due to health issues. Thom's hobbies were golfing, building computers and gaming.

Thom is survived by his wife, of almost 36 years, Marie H. Hood; his cockatiel, Jethro and cat, Abbey; brothers, Robert (Treva)Hood, Stephen Hood; sisters, Carol (Lovett) Knox and Anna-Marie Hood; brother-in-law, Sid Waffle; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Russ) Shamplo, Julie (Robert) Sizemore and a host of nieces and nephews. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; his mother & father-in-law, Alice & Pete Stamp, brothers, Charles Hood, Harley Hood Jr., Richard Hood, Gilbert Hood; sisters-in-law, Mary Hood, Liesa Hood and a brother-in-law, Walter Waffle.

Interment with full military honors will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at the Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. Please arrive at the cemetery after 12:30 p.m. and lineup up in the assembly area just off of Dickman Rd.
